Peak to Prairie | McNeal and Friends
Story by Tracy Nicholson

From Big Sky to Fargo, McNeal & Friends embraces a softer approach to color, one where impact is created through subtlety rather than boldness. In their latest Montana projects, co-owners and interior designers Sydney Fritz and Kendall Neal explore a refined, nature-inspired palette grounded in tone, texture, and material. From sky blues to mineral greens, smoky glass, warm woods, and cool natural stone — they've unearthed Mother Nature's original palette.

Expanding the Story
While McNeal & Friends' Fargo boutique and design studio is packing up and preparing to unveil their new shop across town—opening summer 2026—we moved from the prairie to the peaks of Big Sky, Montana, to share highlights from three of their team's latest renovations. For those unfamiliar, McNeal & Friends first debuted its luxe home furnishings boutique in downtown Fargo in 2012, founded by sisters Rondi McGovern and Shelly Neal. With deep ties to Montana, the brand naturally expanded in 2021, opening a second design studio in Big Sky. Today, McNeal & Friends is co-owned by Sydney Fritz and Kendall Neal, who lead collaborations across state lines on a variety of renovation and new construction projects. Each boutique houses a full-service interior design studio, offering exclusive furniture lines alongside a curated collection of upscale art and home décor.

Whether in the mountains of Montana or the heart of downtown Fargo, McNeal & Friends proves that timeless design is less focused on bold infusions of color and more focused on brilliant texture, warmth, and a carefully curated balance of tones that lets nature’s beauty shine. From soft sky blues to earthy plaids and layered neutrals, home can be a quiet celebration of comfort, craftsmanship, and the subtle art of framing a view.
